METRC scientists give insight into movement of molecules

A team from the University of Sheffield containing two METRC academic members have made an exciting breakthrough in the control of the movement of single molecules. The findings represent a significant step forward in the field of molecular nanotechnology, which requires such control to achieve self-assembling nano-machines. This could potentially lead to the development of a method to send artificial drugs to their targets, or the creation of self-healing structures which could naturally repair tears in a surface.

METRC Proof of Concept Funding Call Now Open

The METRC Proof of Concept funding call is now open.
Funds of up to £50,000 are available to support individual Proof of Concept projects between METRC’s academic members and industry partners. A total of £500,000 is available in this round of funding and the closing date for applications is 16th October 2009. Applications will be assessed by a panel from METRC’s Industrial Advisory Board and decisions on funding will be made mid-November.
